Rough Terrain Farm is a full service equine facility with an 85x140' indoor arena, attached stalls with boarding for up to nineteen horses, a half-mile race track, and miles of woods trails and country roads for trail riding and carriage driving. Conveniently located five miles from I-89 in Randolph Center, Vermont, the stable is easily accessible to Montpelier, and the Upper Valley area of New Hampshire and Vermont
Owner Leslie Haynes, a British Horse Society certified riding instructor, has extensive training in Natural Horsemanship, dressage and driving.
She offers private lessons in basic horsemanship, long lining, pleasure and competitive carriage driving, dressage, and beginner to advanced English and Western equitation for adults and children (ages 6 and up).
As a trainer, Leslie utilizes Natural Horsemanship, round penning, and de-spooking techniques. She specializes in training horses, ponies and minis to drive both for pleasure and competition (CDE's)
The main barn and indoor arena at Rough Terrain Farm are leased to Vermont Technical College's Equine Studies Program and is run by the College. For more information contact Program Director Dr. Dawn Carleton at 802-728-1221.
A coop boarding barn is available to Equine Studies students and area residents who provide their own care and feed.
In her private five-stall barn, Leslie boards horses in training, horses recovering from injuries, and for visiting farm guests who want to ride and drive in the area. Located at her house just up from the main barn, she has access to the indoor arena for lessons and training.

- ROUGH BOARD: Stalls are available until August in the co-op barn at $200/month. Must supply own feed and bedding, do chores 2x daily.
- FULL BOARD: Stalls and a run-in at Leslie's private barn at her house are available for horses in training and for farm guests who are interested in trail riding and driving. Must supply own feed.
- STALL & CARE FOR HORSES RECOVERING FROM INJURIES: Full care provided by Leslie, and Dr. Barry as needed.
- PRIVATE RIDING, LONG LINING & CARRIAGE DRIVING LESSONS: $50/hr, evenings and weekends in the indoor arena.
- SHORT DISTANCE EQUINE TRUCKING: Available in 2-horse Thoroughbred-size trailer, within New England and New York. $3 per loaded mile.
- MINOR CARRIAGE REPAIRS: Brakes, minor repairs and maintenance available.
